Fruits are medium to large in size, round or round-conical, with green to yellow skin with a pale red blush. The fruit flesh is cream-colored, and the juice contains a high level of tannins. Fruits ripen in September-October and are not suitable for long-term storage.
The plant is vigorous, with a spreading crown, prone to biennial bearing. The variety is a triploid, does not produce viable pollen, and requires pollinator varieties. Resistant to fire blight, but susceptible to apple scab.
The variety is used exclusively for cider production due to its rapidly fermenting juice. In the past, it was used as a rootstock for other apple varieties due to the strength of its trunk.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
