The Carpentin tree has moderate vigor and forms a large, high-domed crown with long branches, reaching a height of 6–8 meters. The variety enters bearing relatively late, but is characterized by stable yields and a low tendency toward biennial bearing.
The fruits are small to medium in size, oblate-round or round-ovoid in shape. The thin, rough skin is often covered with fine-grained gray-brown russeting on a golden-yellow or yellow-green background. The juicy, medium-firm white flesh has a spicy sweet-and-sour taste.
Harvest maturity occurs at the end of September; the fruits can be stored until April. The variety has high resistance to diseases, including fire blight and witch's broom, and is characterized by good winter hardiness and firm fruit attachment to the branches.
