The tree has medium vigor and forms a highly domed crown with long, thin branches. Due to the formation of weak trunks, the variety is often recommended to be top-worked onto vigorous apple trees. The plant does not tolerate very dry locations, but is resistant to wind.

Harvest maturity of the fruits occurs at the end of September or the beginning of October, consumer maturity from October to April. The fruits have a flat-round shape, thin rough skin of golden-yellow color with reddish stripes and russeting. The whitish fine-grained flesh has a wine-sour taste.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to fire blight and proliferation (witches' broom). Currently, it is rare, found primarily in old orchards of Southern Germany and collections for the preservation of biodiversity.
