The variety is autochthonous to the Val Pellice valley in the Piedmont region. Historically, its fruits were used to make "boiled wine," which was traditionally served with polenta.
Fruits ripen in the third ten-day period of September. The variety is included in the databases of local genetic resources of Piedmont and is characterized by low susceptibility to scab.
