The name Ciganček is not a separate variety, but serves as a synonym for the traditional apple variety Rdeči jesenski kalvil. Other names for this variety are also found in official registers, such as Cigan, Cigančica, Malinovka, Öszi piros kalvil and Rother Herbst Calvill.

The variety belongs to the old category, being the result of folk breeding. In this regard, detailed morphological or agronomic characteristics are not presented in open official publications.
