The variety is traditional to the Asturias region and is included in the list of apples authorized for use in production under the Sidra de Asturias protected designation of origin. The fruits are used exclusively for technical purposes for cider making and are not intended for fresh consumption.

The variety is characterized as bitter-semi-acid, which is determined by the content of acids and phenolic compounds. According to phenological observation data, the apple tree demonstrates one of the earliest flowering start dates among local varieties.
