The name Drei Jahre Dauernder Mutterapfel is considered a synonym for the Shampanskaya reneta variety, although in a number of publications this naming is recognized as erroneous. The origin of the Shampanskaya reneta variety is associated with the Champagne region in France, where it has been known since before 1770.

The variety is classified as late-ripening. The plant is suitable for cultivation in the form of half-standard and high-standard trees; it is suitable for home gardens, orchards, and alley plantings.

The fruits are used as a good-quality table variety, as well as a utility variety suitable for processing and juice production.
