The variety is a spontaneous bud mutation selected from the 'Nagafu 12' variety. Its main distinguishing feature is the high intensity and uniformity of fruit skin coloration, which manifests even on areas hidden from direct sunlight.

Fujiko belongs to winter apple varieties and is intended for commercial fruit production. The trees are actively used in intensive orchards using modern training systems. In a number of studies, the susceptibility of the plants to rosette disease was noted.
