ActiveMalus domestica (Suckow) Borkh. · Apple
Tagliani Francesco, Castagnoli Gianfranco, Leis Michelangelo, Martinelli Alessio
10 August 2026
The tree is characterized by strong, often crooked growth; the crown spreads in width at a young age. The fruits are very large and have an irregular, often asymmetrical or triangular ribbed shape. The skin is yellow-green with bright red stripes, becoming waxy and greasy to the touch over time. The flesh is yellowish and sweet-sour in taste.
The variety ripens in early September. The trees are sensitive to apple canker, especially in wet soils, and the fruits are prone to rot during storage. Due to its historical age and a large number of synonyms, there is a risk of confusion in the identification of different genotypes under this name.
