Fruits of this variety are characterized by juiciness and a wine-spiced flavor; the consumption period lasts from December to May. In literature, the variety is often mentioned as versatile, suitable for use as a table apple, as well as for cider production.

The tree has a high yield and is considered suitable for cultivation in extensive orchards. Regarding resistance, old sources noted low susceptibility to powdery mildew, while modern descriptions indicate susceptibility to scab.

The variety is known under a number of synonyms, including Gäsdonker Reinette and Reinette Dorée de Gäsdonk. Genetic studies of samples distributed under this name often indicate the identity of the variety with Blenheim Orange.
