The tree is characterized as weak-growing, with an upright, spreading crown and a tendency to dwarfism. The fruits are medium-sized, round-cylindrical in shape, and have smooth, thin skin of a greenish-yellow color with a red blush, stripes, and occasional light russeting.

The flesh of the fruit is yellowish, tender, soft, and juicy, possessing a sweet-and-sour taste with a mild aroma. The variety is used as a dessert apple, as well as for making apple juice. It has good disease resistance.

The variety is widely known in breeding as a parent form for many modern varieties, including Alkmene and Clivia.
