The tree has moderate vigor and a compact crown; it is best adapted to hilly terrain conditions. The variety is late-maturing, with harvest taking place from mid-October to early November. Yield is subject to biennial bearing.

Fruits are medium or small-to-medium in size, covered with a yellowish-white waxy skin, sometimes with a pink blush and bloom. The flesh is white, crisp, and juicy, with a sweet aroma. The variety name is derived from the tendency of the flesh to become glassy during ripening or storage.

The variety is demanding in terms of growing conditions: it is sensitive to drought, as well as to infestation by scab, powdery mildew, and aphids. Fruits are prone to rot if stored improperly; however, if conditions are maintained, they can be kept until spring.
