Gelbe Sächsische Renette is an old winter variety. The fruits are predominantly spherical in shape with shiny lemon-yellow skin, sometimes with a blush. The flesh is yellowish, juicy, and sweet-and-sour. The variety enters bearing late and is characterized by biennial bearing; the fruits are used primarily for juice production.

Champagnerrenette is a variety with fruits ranging from greenish-yellow to waxy yellow in color, smooth and greasy to the touch, sometimes with a pink tint. The taste of the fruits is tart, with a light aroma. The tree forms a compact pyramidal crown and is resistant to adverse conditions, however, on damp, cold soils, it is susceptible to canker.
