The Groths Später variety is a winter apple variety genetically related to the Cox Orange variety, but ripening four weeks later. The fruits have smooth skin with distinct russeting covering the entire surface. The ground color is green, transitioning upon ripening to greenish-gold, sometimes with a slight blush on the sun-exposed side.

The variety is considered versatile and possesses a distinct aroma. Due to the good preservation of the fruits, the variety is classified as having good keeping quality and is suitable for cultivation in orchards and meadow orchards.
