The tree of this variety has vigorous growth and forms a crown prone to drooping branches. The variety is a triploid with non-viable pollen, therefore it requires cross-pollination by other varieties for fruit set. The crop is demanding in terms of soil fertility and moisture levels, while fruiting may be biennial.

The fruits are large, round-conical or ribbed in shape, often covered with characteristic russeting. The flesh is yellowish, firm, and juicy, distinguished by a tart, wine-like flavor. The harvest ripens in October; consumer maturity occurs in December. The variety is primarily culinary, suitable for baking and processing.

The plant has good resistance to scab and canker. However, it is noted to be sensitive to powdery mildew and susceptible to fire blight and core rot. The winter hardiness of the variety is assessed as medium and depends on growing conditions.
