The variety is a bud mutation of the Braeburn variety. The fruits are characterized by the presence of an intense red blush, which may appear as stripes or solid coverage, sometimes with a brownish-red hue. The fruit flesh is firm and cream-colored.

The taste qualities of the variety are described as complex and refreshing, combining sweetness with a pronounced tartness, while the variety is less acidic than Braeburn. The variety is intended for fresh consumption and matures approximately 20 days after the Red Delicious variety.
