The variety is the result of crossing McIntosh with the seedling PRI 1018-3. The moderately vigorous trees have a spreading, upright crown and bear fruit on spurs. The crop matures in mid-September, with a noted tendency for premature fruit drop. The variety requires cross-pollination.

The fruits are medium-sized, oblate, with greenish-yellow skin and a red blush. The flesh is juicy, fine-grained, and tender, with a sweet-and-sour flavor and a vinous note. Frost resistance is down to -33°C (USDA zones 4–8).

The variety possesses high immunity to scab due to the Rvi6/Vf gene, which allows it to be grown in humid climates with minimal chemical treatments. It is also characterized by moderate resistance to powdery mildew, fire blight, and rust.
