The variety is a spontaneous somatic mutant of the Jonathan variety. The dessert-type fruits are characterized by an intense dark red blush covering most of their surface, which distinguishes them from the parent variety.

The trees have moderate vigor, with final sizes depending on the type of rootstock used. The variety is successfully grown using trellis systems for crown formation.

Regarding disease resistance, the variety is classified as tolerant to fire blight, but it retains susceptibility to powdery mildew, characteristic of the parent variety.
