The columnar fruit apple tree variety "Obelisk" is distinguished by its compact size and short internodes, where fruit formations develop along the main trunk. The variety is precocious, producing flat-round fruits weighing 150–200 g with a red blush on a green background and a sweet-sour taste.

The ornamental apple tree "Red Obelisk" reaches a height of 4–6 meters with a crown width of 2–3 meters. The foliage changes shade from bronze in spring to dark green in summer and yellow-brown in autumn, with flowering occurring in May with pinkish-white flowers. The plant produces small, shiny, bright red fruits 2–3 cm in diameter, which persist on the branches for a long time.

Both varieties originate from the East Malling breeding program, where the genetic base of the columnar mutation of the "McIntosh" ("Wijcik") variety was used. Fruit forms require sunlight and crop thinning, while ornamental forms are characterized by winter hardiness.
