The variety is a local genetic resource adapted to the agro-ecological conditions of Madeira. Identification and conservation of this variety are carried out by the Germobanco da Madeira project.

Currently, research is being conducted to study the morpho-agronomic characteristics of the variety, including flowering, fruiting, and harvest times, as well as a description of the shape, size, weight of the fruits, and the color of the flesh.
