The variety is traditional to the Alcobaça region. The fruits are characterized by the presence of sugars, including fructose, sucrose, glucose, and sorbitol, as well as a significant content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids in the peel.

In comparative studies, the variety is classified as having reduced susceptibility to fire blight. The fruits are considered a promising ingredient for functional nutrition and natural sweeteners.
