The variety is the result of folk selection and is preserved in the agricultural genetic bank of Madeira. Trees are characterized as hardy and undemanding in terms of growing conditions, suitable for organic cultivation.

The fruits have an elongated or oblong-conical shape and are characterized by an accelerated ripening period. The fruit aroma combines fruity and citrus notes, which determines their use in fresh form, in baked goods, and for the preparation of traditional drinks such as cider.
