The variety is the result of folk selection and was historically widespread in Podolia. It has many synonyms, including Rambour podolskii, Knysh, Edelrambour von Winnitza, and others.

The fruits are characterized by a very large size, sometimes exceeding 900 grams, and a distinctive spherical shape with flattened poles and blunt ribs along the entire length. In pomological literature, the variety is classified as winter.

Currently, the variety is not used in intensive fruit growing and is found in international lists as an object of genetic heritage conservation.
