The name «Rambur» (or «Rambour») is most often used to designate a group of «Rambur-like» apples. This group includes numerous local varieties, such as Pariški rambur, Lohrer Rambur, Eifeler Rambur, Gehrers Rambur, and Wöbers Rambur, which are common mainly in Germany, Austria, and Slovenia.

Representatives of the group, in particular the Pariški rambur variety, are characterized by fairly large, flattened fruits with pronounced ribs. At harvest, the skin is greenish-yellow with a characteristic presence of russet lenticels and patches of «russeting».

Varieties of this group usually belong to late autumn or winter types. They are used as table apples or for industrial processing, for example, for juice or cider. Economic characteristics vary: varieties may possess good disease resistance, but often require protection against codling moth and may be characterized by irregular bearing.
