The variety was obtained by crossing 1295 × Bancroft (breeding number VI-17-D2). Trees are characterized by moderate growth vigor, which varies depending on the chosen rootstock.

Fruits are large, with a weight of 120–170 g. The presence of betulinic acid is noted in the flesh composition. The variety is used in breeding programs to transfer scab resistance to offspring.

The variety shows moderate resistance to apple scab and susceptibility to European canker. It is self-incompatible and widely used in research programs for studying the influence of rootstocks on yield.
