The variety is a local cultivated plant of northwestern Spain. It is currently being studied and preserved at regional specialized research centers, such as CIAM, and is not considered a widely distributed industrial variety.

Fruits of this variety have historically been used both for fresh consumption and for cider production. In terms of taste characteristics, the apples are classified as semi-acidic. In nurseries, the variety can be propagated by grafting onto various types of rootstocks.
