The variety was developed under the breeding program of Corvinus University in Budapest. In scientific literature, it is characterized as one of the new varieties intended for cultivation in an integrated production system.

Unlike a number of multiresistant varieties from the same breeding program, the Rodonit variety is tolerant and does not carry the Vf scab resistance gene. Detailed morphological characteristics of the plant and fruits are absent in open publications.
