The Rogers variety is a bud mutation (sport) of the McIntosh variety. Its fruits retain the typical characteristics of the original variety: juicy white flesh and a distinct aroma. The main difference is the intensity of the coloration, which manifests brighter or earlier in this clone.

Fruit ripening occurs in the second half of September, which corresponds to a medium or medium-late period. The harvest is primarily used for fresh consumption.

In literature, the name Rogers may also be encountered in the context of other varieties, such as Bill Rogers, or indicate the geographical origin of seedlings from the city of Rogers, Ohio, which requires clarification of the characteristics of a specific seedling from the seller.
