The variety is a mutation of the King of the Pippins variety. If the fruits are stored for more than three months, the flesh becomes mealy, therefore, to achieve optimal taste qualities, the fruits must fully ripen on the tree.
The plant is susceptible to scab and powdery mildew, and is moderately susceptible to apple canker. The best results in cultivation are achieved using vigorous rootstocks.
