The apple variety Rõõsa was developed as a result of breeding work started in 1970 by breeder Uno Kivistik.

This variety is an Estonian breeding line created within the framework of a program for the development of fruit crops in the region. Detailed agrotechnical characteristics and a morphological description of the fruits are not provided in specialized sources.
