The variety has the synonyms Rousse-Latour, Roux, Petit Roux, Châtaigne, Rousse tardive, Petite Rousse, Salière, and Petit Muscadet de l’Orne. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and sufficient yield, which is prone to alternate bearing.

The fruits are large, slightly ribbed, and vary in shape from cylindrical to oblate-globose with characteristic asymmetry. The basin is spacious, deep, and folded. The stalk extends beyond the wide and deep cavity. The variety is traditionally grown in the regions of France, in particular in Normandy.
