The variety originated as a chance seedling in the Canton of Zurich around 1746. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, forming a wide crown with strong vertical shoots and dark green foliage. The fruits are medium to large in size, rounded, with bright green or yellow-green skin and a reddish blush. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy, semi-firm, with a sweet-and-sour taste.

The fruits ripen in early October and store until February-March. The variety is characterized by late onset of bearing, high hardiness and resistance to scab, powdery mildew, fire blight, and canker. It tolerates the climatic conditions of altitudes up to 1000 meters above sea level well.
