The name Sovari unites a group of old Hungarian varieties, such as Nemes sóvári, Daru sóvári, and Beregi sóvári. The trees belong to vigorous types and are characterized by a late onset of fruiting, as well as a tendency toward biennial bearing.

The fruits are medium or large in size and, as a rule, have a greenish-yellow color with a red or orange blush. The fruit flesh is aromatic, sweet or sweet-and-sour. The varieties of the group are resistant to major diseases, however, they may show susceptibility to scab.

Harvesting takes place in September-October; the fruits retain their consumer properties for several months. Many representatives of the group are triploid and self-sterile, therefore, they require the presence of pollinator trees of other varieties to obtain a harvest.
