The tree reaches a height of 5–8 meters with a crown width of 4–6 meters. The fruits ripen in October, are of medium or small size, and have a flattened shape with five distinct ribs. The skin is yellow-green, and an orange-red blush may appear on the sunny side.

The flesh is firm, yellowish-white in color, and has a mild sweet-and-sour taste. The variety is considered frost-hardy and resilient. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, baking, and juices, and due to their unusual shape, they have traditionally been used as Christmas tree decorations.

The variety is considered one of the oldest, with a history that can be traced back to Ancient Rome. The variety is a collector's crop and served as the basis for the development of the Apistar variety.
