Supporter 1 is a dwarfing rootstock with vigor comparable to M.9 rootstock. It is used for grafting apple varieties to limit their growth, accelerate the onset of fruiting, and increase yield. Plants grafted onto this rootstock require support due to their dwarf growth habit.

The rootstock exhibits resistance to scab and possesses relative winter hardiness and drought tolerance. Slight susceptibility to powdery mildew is possible. In scientific literature, the rootstock is considered an alternative or complement to the M.9 standard.
