The alfalfa variety Chaironia is used for the production of green mass, hay, and silage. The crop is capable of nitrogen fixation and contributes to improving soil structure in crop rotations.
In scientific research, the variety is examined from the perspective of its response to water deficit, where adaptation mechanisms via DNA methylation are studied. Comparative trials are conducted regarding productivity, root and shoot biomass accumulation, as well as analysis of quality indicators, including protein, fiber, and ash content under various Mediterranean environmental conditions.
