The variety Virginia MV-1 is the first registered Virginia-type variety developed by the Scientific Tobacco Institute in Prilep. The plant possesses stable morphological traits and a characteristic golden-yellow leaf color after curing.

Under experimental conditions, the yield of the variety is about 2500 kg/ha. According to the results of comparative trials, the variety shows high susceptibility to black root rot. In modern breeding, the Virginia MV-1 CMS form is used, utilizing male sterility.
