The Slatinka variety belongs to the flue-cured type. It was obtained as a result of breeding work aimed at increasing plant resistance to diseases, in particular to downy mildew.

The GV 3 line, crossed with American tobacco varieties, was used as the initial material for breeding the variety. The variety was intended for industrial use in agriculture.
