A foglie di lattuga is characterized by vigorous plant development. The leaves are very large, wide, bullate and tender. The period from direct sowing to harvest is approximately 75–80 days. Due to the leaf texture, the variety is suitable for cultivation in containers.

The plant's flavor is milder compared to classic basil varieties. Due to the size and consistency of the leaves, it is suitable for use in sandwiches, salads, and bruschetta as a substitute for lettuce.
