Zinzala trees are characterized by horizontal branch growth, which complicates pruning and harvesting, especially in older, tall specimens. The variety is considered a product of natural hybridization between local wild olives and introduced species.

The plant is late-maturing, demonstrates high adaptability to the climate of southern Corsica, and has a yield in the range of 20–30%. The fruits are used primarily for oil production, which is valued for its mildness, velvetiness, and notes of herbs, almond, and dried fruits.
