The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing Origanum vulgare and Origanum laevigatum. The plant forms dense, mound-like clumps with upright stems that do not lodge. Leaves retain their golden-yellow color throughout the season without fading in direct sunlight.
The flowering period begins in mid-summer and lasts until early autumn; inflorescences consist of dark purple calyces and small pink-lilac flowers. The variety is intended for ornamental landscaping, possesses high winter hardiness in USDA zones 4–9, and is resistant to damage by deer and rabbits.
The plant prefers well-drained soils and full sun; it tolerates waterlogging poorly, which can lead to the development of root rot. The leaves are edible, although they have a less pronounced aroma and flavor than culinary forms of oregano.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
