The «Topáz» variety is used in scientific practice as a control sample for studying the genetic stability and evolution of the crop. In particular, the genomic DNA of this variety is used for comparison with millet samples obtained during archaeological excavations.

Open scientific materials lack data on the morphological and agronomic traits of the variety, such as plant height, yield indicators, maturity group, or disease resistance. The variety is maintained in gene banks as breeding material.
