Variety description

The plant forms compact clumps 50 to 76 cm in height. The foliage is dark green, pubescent, and dissected. The flowers are distinguished by deeply incised petal edges and the presence of a plum-black spot in the center.

Flowering occurs in late spring to early summer. After flowering finishes, the aerial part dies back, entering a dormant state. The plant prefers sunny locations and well-drained soils; it is resistant to browsing by rabbits and deer. Used in mixed borders and for cut flowers.
