Variety description

The variety is an evergreen perennial subshrub that forms spreading clumps 30–45 cm tall and 40–60 cm wide. The plant foliage is dark green, glossy, with a serrated margin. The flowers are tubular, lilac-purple in color, and reach about 3.8 cm in length.

The plant blooms in spring, with possible repeat flowering episodes in the summer period. The variety tolerates sun and partial shade well, and requires well-drained soils. It possesses high winter hardiness (USDA zones 4a–9b), and resistance to heat and Verticillium wilt.

Used in landscape design for decorating rock gardens, stony gardens, retaining walls, and creating borders.
