The variety is developed for industrial biomass production used for manufacturing fuel pellets, briquettes, biogas, and bioethanol. Compared to wild forms, the variety is characterized by less pronounced leafiness and increased stem strength.
The plant is characterized by high yield and growth stability in the climatic conditions of Northern Europe. The biomass of the variety possesses significant calorific value, and the density of pellets obtained from it can exceed that of woody raw materials.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness and adaptability to different soil types, including land requiring remediation from heavy metals. Like other representatives of the species, Bamse is a rhizomatous plant capable of effectively suppressing weed vegetation after establishment.
