The variety was bred based on samples of wild populations collected in Latvia. The plant is characterized by intensive development of productive stems and high dry matter productivity.

The variety possesses good winter hardiness and resistance to diseases such as leaf spot and rust. Biochemical analysis shows a high content of protein, ash, and potassium in the dry mass.
