Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is characterized by an erect or semi-erect habit after vernalization. The leaves of the variety have an intense dark green color. The variety is distinguished by a low degree of infection by the fungus Epichloë typhina, which causes 'choke' disease.

Latima belongs to the species Phleum nodosum (known as Small Timothy or Turf Timothy), which is functionally different from the common forage crop Phleum pratense. The variety is a historical starting material from which turf grasses resistant to mechanical stress were created.
