Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a winter type and is most often considered in scientific literature as a subject for studying forage characteristics. It has been repeatedly studied in experiments to determine amino acid digestibility and the content of anti-nutritional factors for the nutrition of piglets and broilers.

The variety is characterized by an increased level of trypsin inhibitors in the seeds, which is a key indicator when assessing product quality. In phytopathological studies, Frijaune is mentioned as one of the varieties used to differentiate physiological races of the pea ascochyta blight pathogen (Ascochyta pisi).
