The variety is a natural mutation of Pittosporum tenuifolium «Tom Thumb». The plant forms a rounded bush, reaching a height of 0.75–1 m and a width of 0.6–1 m by 10 years of age. The natural shape of the crown requires practically no pruning.
Ornamental properties are due to the variability of leaf color: in spring they are olive-green with a creamy-white border, in summer they acquire pink shades, and with the onset of cold weather they become purple-burgundy. At the end of spring, the release of small fragrant dark purple flowers is possible.
The plant belongs to the category of conditionally winter-hardy, tolerates frosts down to -10°C, and is drought-resistant after rooting. It prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with good soil drainage.
