The Poa pratensis variety Avalanche is a perennial rhizomatous-bunchgrass. The plant is characterized by a light shade of green, a compact growth habit, and the formation of dense sod, which allows it to be used for the creation of park areas and sports fields.

The variety possesses good heat tolerance and resistance to mechanical stress. During trials, its improved resistance to brown patch and dollar spot was confirmed, however, sensitivity to certain herbicides containing bispyribac-sodium is noted.
